Due to excess humidity and the heat from the sun in Asian countries such as ours, skin gets damaged and lots of problem can be seen. Some of the problems that are caused in summer along with the remedies on how to prevent them are listed below :
1) Suntan: Suntan is caused due to the direct exposure to the sun causing uneven skin tone. It not only ends up making one dark but also leaves irritation on the skin as well.
Remedies: Before heading out always make sure to apply sunscreen. This is something that cannot be ignored. Apart from this, a few homemade face masks can always save you. ‘Multani mitti’ (fuller’s earth) and sandalwood are known for fighting suntan. Make a mask out of multani mitti, sandalwood and liquid milk and then apply it to your face. Wash it off with cold water after a few minutes. This will heal your suntan as well as help you to fix the damage that was caused by the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun.
2) Acne Breakouts: Sweat upon mixing with bacteria and oil on your skin, can clog your pores. If you have an acne prone skin, this often means break outs.
Remedies: Always keep a towel or a cotton pad to wipe off the sweat and oil. For acne you can always trust the good old homemade mask consisting of honey and cinnamon. Cinnamon helps to close open pores and fight the bacteria, while honey helps to shrink pores and leaves a glowing, bright skin.
3) Dry Irritation: Dry irritation mainly occurs due to sensitive skin, when the skin cannot adapt to the harsh sunlight. This may also result in the breakout of rashes and red patches on the skin whenever you are out in the sun.
Remedies: Sunscreen is always to be used. Aloe vera is the greatest contributor to having a smooth skin. To reduce any kind of irritation, freeze aloe vera gel into ice cubes and rub it on the affected skin or all over your face. Upon doing so, you will notice the irritation will lessen and there will be a cool sensation all over your skin. Furthermore, you can slice potatoes in half and massage it all the way on. Just make sure the juice gets on the irritated skin.
4) Heat Rashes: Heat rashes or prickly skin result mostly from excessive heat. This leads to itching and irritation all over the body.
Remedies: Before heading out apply some cooling powder all over your body. This helps to keep your body cool and prevents the rashes from reacting further. If the rashes are unbearable, boil some neem leaves in water for almost 10 minutes. Neem has antibacterial properties which is the most effective in curing itches. Add the neem leaves into your bath or make sure to pour them on yourself while you’re showering. Take a neem bath everyday until your skin is healed.
Last but not least , make sure to keep yourself hydrated by drinking 6-7 glasses of water or fruit juices. So be sure to keep in mind these summer problems and remedies and don’t forget to take care of your skin.
