Fast & Furious star Paul Walker passed away 4 years ago in a tragic car accident in 2013, months after his 40th birthday. His absence is something all of his fans still feel everyday. Walker was an inspirational individual both on and off the screen. Not only does he live on in the hearts of fans but also in the hearts of the ‘car enthusiasts’. He was in a number of TV series and films and hit the spotlight after portraying Brian O’Connor in the Fast & Furious franchise. This film series not only made Paul Walker and Vin Diesel best friends in character, but they also became brothers in real life as well. Even though his life was cut short after just 40 years, he still achieved a ton of amazing goals. So here are 7 things you probably didn’t know about him.
Walker’s first appearance was actually as a toddler, when he starred in a 1970s Pampers commercial.
Walker started acting on Television in 1985 at the age of 11. He appeared in “Touched by an Angel“, “Highway to Heaven“, “Throb“ and others. His first film role was in 1986’s “Monster In The Closet“ when he was only 13 years old. Even though he enjoyed acting, he actually considered quitting quite a few times!
One of his biggest passions was the sea. He loved the sea. After high school, Walker attended several community colleges in Southern California, majoring in Marine Biology. He even considered giving up acting to pursue this interest. Though he remained as an actor, he used his celebrity status to help many charities.
He actually performed most of the stunts in the set of Fast & Furious on his own. Like at the beginning of 2 Fast 2 Furious, when he wins the race and does the eye-catching handbrake stop beyond the finish line. That was actually him doing that all on his own. He even improvised during various fight scenes.
Walker was a great fighter onscreen, but he was also a great fighter offscreen too. He practiced Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and had a Brown belt. For those of you that don’t know, in martial arts, Brown belt is one below the best, the Black belt. After his death, his instructor awarded him a posthumous Black belt.
Walker came from a family of fighters. His father was a two-time Golden Gloves Boxing Champion. In addition his grandfather also had a successful boxing career under the nickname “Irish” Billie Walker. He was a navy middleweight boxing champion.

Even around two years after the death of his best friend, in 2015 Diesel’s daughter was born and he named her Pauline in honor of Paul Walker.
The two were really close both on and off the set. Diesel also sang “See You Again”, the song dedicated to the memory of late Paul Walker in Furious 7, on the people’s choice awards for Furious 7.
